Random Ramblings: I'm back... from the future :O

No I'm not really... though I wish I was, 'cause I'd know what I would do next - which would be typing the next word - right? ANYWAAAAAAAAY before I start confusing people (and myself xD)... let's get on to what I was meant to say =]

So... this last week has... well... I don't think it's been that great actually. I've been busy at uni - AS usual. I've got two assessments next week so I'm studying for them. AND I did actually film a tutorial this week but when I got round to editing it I realised it was really similar to my 'To The Beach' tutorial, so I didn't bother uploading it or anything. But I will get one up this weekend! Something different... Or at least I'll try. I'm running out of ideas now xD

Today... I found out an interesting fact! Rudyard Kipling is Anglo-Indian....

...Well I thought that was an interesting fact anyway - since I'm Anglo-Indian xD

Anyway, I thought I'd share some pictures with you from over the week =]

Timmy the cat =] ... Nicks the armchair and keeps it all for himself xD

Yes! Believe it or not, this cat IS actually trying to open the door. But it was too cold to let him out! Silly Tommy xD

My aunty - who made this whole outfit (aside the boots and the belt) by herself from a ball... or two... or three of wool? I don't even know! xD ... I know she crotched it though! This is her christmas Santa outfit =]

The view out of my bedroom window on the 30th November 2010 - snowing for the first time this winter down in East London. I don't think Londoners will EVER get fed up of seeing snow - it's awesome. And in previous years we used to dreaaaam for a white christmas - will we get it this year? (I won't, coz I'll be in India - and we all know it ain't gonna snow there lmao - or it could it would just be one bloody amazing Christmas miracle! xD)

What can I say? In this weather you need fluffy slippers to keep your toesies warm =] ... I HATE feeling cold. It's the most uncomfortable feeling in the world for me. And I hate cold feet more (especially when you're trying to get to sleep coz it's actually a scientific fact that as long as you have cold feet you WILL NOT go to sleep! Your body just can't shut down if you have cold feet) so I like my sheepy shlippers! =D

Okay, so I'm gonna go and carry on studying now (but only while the adverts are on during 'I'm A Celeb...'

WHO DO YOU WANT TO WIN IT???

STACEY FOR ME! =D

Stay warm, safe (be careful not to slip on the roads) and have a great weekend guys! =D

Love you all,

Random Ramblings: Hard week for the chicken =[

Hey guys!

I have had a hard week. I've been feeling really down recently, and extremely anti-social =[  ... not so great when you know you have to start uploading some more video's and stuff onto youtube but this week has just been awful!

This week was supposed to be my reading week at uni - which basically means that I get a week where I don't have to go in for lectures or anything, but I have to stay at home and read, or y'know, study. But obviously, I don't think any student really gets much done during reading week because there will always be a day where you have to go into the lab and do experiments and crap (yer, experiments sound cool right? Not when you do pretty much the same one all the damn time =[ ) ... and then I'm guessing that pretty much every student has some type of part time job which would inevitably take up some time during the week.

So, with all that to bare in mind, I had work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and my work pretty much takes up the whole day because it takes me 2 hours to go there and 2 hours to come back home - with a 7 hour shift in between. I also had to go into uni for (yep, you guessed it...) LABS on Tuesday between working. Because of all that, my so called reading 'week' has whittled down to reading '2 days' ... oh and plus the weekend but I fully intend to go out on Saturday - AT THE VERY LEAST.

Thursday and Friday (my two ACTUAL reading days) have consisted of studying and writing my essay which is due in, in just over a week and also studying for an exam I have in also, just over a week - not looking forward to the exam to be honest, but hey ho, what can ya do?

I also spent Thursday night curled up alone in my room crying to the sound of Taylor Swift's new album - Speak Now (obviously there were other reasons too lol). Truly her best album yet, by far - and hasn't failed to make me cry every single time I listen to it. Her lyrics are so beautifully truthful and straight to the point, yet understanding at the same time, and that's what I really love about Taylor Swift. Her writing.

It's Friday night now, and I still feel really quite down and lonely to be honest. And I know that you guys probably don't want to read any of this, or possibly don't even care. I don't blame you really, but in that case, you should have stopped reading a long time ago =P

Anyway, I shall go drown my sorrows else where now and hopefully the weekend will see a better, happier, more 'Chanel' version of me! =] Fingers crossed.

P.S. This miserable weather in London really doesn't make it any better =[

Youtube Tutorial - Purple Smokey Eye Using MAC

I've done quite a few tutorials on how to create a purple smokey eye, and I'll probably do more in the future, but I was requested to do one during my contest so here it is. This is a very subtle looking purple smokey eye if worn without the falsies, and with them the look just screams evening glamour.

I decided to use all MAC eyeshadows, which are pretty new to my collection as I'm currently putting a 'purple palette' together. Eyeshadows used in this tutorial are some of the eyeshadows that are in that palette so far.

I know I've been slacking loads recently, and I know I always go away for ages and then come back and always  have an excuse - but I have been sick and truthfully I'm still recovering. Uni is keeping me so busy as well - it's really hard to keep on top of everything but I really really really promise that I will be trying so much harder to do more videos. And a lot harder to keep blogging as well hehe - Im sure I'll be doing more of it when I'm in India during December =]

Anyway... here's a list of all the products I used:
EYES:
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance
- Barry M Super Soft Eye Crayon - #5
- MAC Eye Shadow - Beautiful Iris, Stars 'n' Rockets, Fig. 1, Parfait Amour, Digit
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil - Zero
- Urban Decay Naked Palette - Hustle
- MAC False Eye lashes - #36
- Maybelline Falsies Mascara
LIPS:
- MAC Superglass - Gift Wrapped

FACE:
- Johnson and Johnsons Day Moisturiser
- GOSH Velvet Touch Face Primer
- Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation - #5 Honey
- GOSH Velvet Touch Eye Primer
- MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer - NW35
- ELF Mineral Booster - Sheer
- MAC Blush - Melba
- ELF Shimmering Facial Whip - Pink Lemonade

No pictures for this look I'm afraid... I did have them but I lost my memory card =[

Sorry, but you can check out the tutorial to find out what it looks like.

Miscellaneous: Long week =[

First things first, I have to say a BIG congrats to Renthead2400 for winning my first ever contest! hehe

Now let's move on to less important ramblings...

I am so thankful to say that this week is OVER! It's gone fast but none-the-less it's been a long, hard week.

I can't even begin to tell you what I did on Tuesday because I simply cannot remember anything about that day - it was the only fast day of the week.

I only realised how slow time has been going when I checked my diary today and realised I've only been back at uni for THREE weeks. It feels like it's been sooooooooooooooooo much longer - and I've got an even longer week next week because I have a 3 hour lecture everyday, plus two 7 hour shifts at work. I can safely say I'm gonna be knackered. The good thing is that while I'm busy with uni and work, the week tends to move a little bit faster. Time slows down, don't get me wrong but when you get to Friday you're like - where the hell did Monday go?!? Lol

It's getting a lot colder in London too, which is something I'm actually quite apathetic about at the moment. I normally like the cold weather because I like to wrap up warm and snuggle into a chunky knit scarf that just feels like a blanket around your neck - but it's not THAT cold enough yet. It's just cold enough to make sure you wear a jumper/jacket. So yes, I want it to get colder because this weather is stupid and I wanna wear my chunky scarves!! Lol

I also started a diet this week, because I have decided it is time for me to lose weight. =]
I started on Monday and I've stuck to it so far. I'm not normally one to eat looooooads of chocolates and crisps or anything but when you know you have to cut them out completely, you start to walk past every shop that sells them thinking 'One won't do any harm - NO NO NO musn't go in' lol... and so far my will power has served me well and I haven't touched a single chocolate bar or packet of crisps this week. Let's just hope I can keep this up. Teehee.

Last but not least, because this week has been so busy for me I haven't even got round to editing any of the videos that I filmed over the weekend. One of them being the long awaited and most requested: 'How do I do my eyebrows' video. I WILL edit them this weekend though, and I will also film more and edit THEM too - so I may just give you guys a real good dose of tutorials this weekend - maybe a Q&A video 'cause I have sooo many bloody questions to answer from my contest. I also have to start doing Halloween tutorials since they've been requested - it's late, I know. But better late than never, huh?

So, to sum up this random ramble about my week:
1. It's been a long week =[ - but next week will be even longer ='[
2. It's got cold =], but I want it to be colder =D
3. I'm on a diet ... that I'm actually sticking to! Lol =D
4. Keep a look out for a bunch of videos from me this weekend hehe =D

I'm actually surprised that I haven't managed to rant on about something awful in these miscellaneous random rambles lol... should I call them 'Random Rambles' from now on? Lol... It seems like a much more fun name for these kind of things! xD

Anyway... Have a great weekend and I shall hopefully have those videos up on my youtube channel this weekend too! =]

Lots of Love,

Chanel

P.S. I also finished reading my book this week and if none of you have seen the movie 'My Sister's Keeper' my dad recommends it. I haven't seen the movie but that's the book I finished this week and it's real good. There's a real good twist at the end. (My dad told me this because he watched the movie so obviously my nose was in the book every chance I got to read it - and it did actually turn out to be a good twist hehe)

Au revoir my lovelies!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Maleficent

Okay so the last part of this wonderful collection is inspired by the evil Maleficent. She became famous for her role in the 1959 animated Disney movie 'Sleeping Beauty'. She casts a spell on Princess Aurora to 'prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die' on her 16th birthday. She does this because she wasn't invited to the Princess' christening... really? Is that a reason to be so meaaaaan? Lol

Fortunately for Princess Aurora, she doesn't die but only falls asleep until her 'Prince Charming' arrives to kiss her awake. If only we all had a Prince Charming huh? So... technically, the curse is in Princess Aurora's favour and like all good Disney movies, there's a happy ending. Woot woot!

Anyway... I only got two lip products from this part of the collection because the mineralize shadows didn't really stand out to me since I'm not a big fan of mineralize eyeshadows (Mineralize Skin Finishes yeah sure - but the one mineralize trio eyeshadow that I have, I've only used ONCE =[ )

So here's the lipglass in 'Wrong Spell' - AND FYI ... I didn't think I would like this much but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it! =]

Okay so in pictures this comes off pretty plummy but it's not as plum as it's coming off. It's actually a pretty dark brown with gorgeous shimmer running through it. It is a beautiful colour, really.

Next up is the lipstick in 'Dark Deed'. Amplified finish.

This is coming off it's true colour! It's described as a dark brown plum on the MAC website I think but it's actually, in my opinion anyway, a really dark brown red. It's quite a fair bit darker than dubonnet but similar in the sense that they're both browns with a strong red undertone. Or would it be the other way round? I'm not too sure lol. Either way... it's a gorgeous, gorgeous colour!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Evil Queen

Mirror, Mirror
On The Wall
Who's the fairest,
Of them all?

The famous words of the Evil Queen from the 1937 animated Disney film 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'

I think it'd be a great idea if MAC had to pair up with Disney again, they should have a collection based on the 7 dwarfs haha =P

Anyway... the first item I bought is the eyeshadow in 'Vainglorious' :

I do really like this colour. It's a frost so colour pay off isn't great but it's still a really lovely colour. I filmed a tutorial using it today... and using 'Sweet Joy' from Cruella De Ville as well - perfect for fall and winter. I believe this is a close dupe of Cranberry my MAC =]

Next up is the blush - and this is my FAVOURITE product from the whole collection. It seems to be famous with everyone else as well since it was sold out within hours of the collection going up on the website. I actually had to wait 'til it was out in stores, go to my nearest store for opening time and snatched it straight away.

This is a Matte blush called 'Bite of an Apple' and it's a really dark coral red colour. Great against my skin tone and would look amazing against darker skin tones too. This would look super super pretty on lighter skin tones as well, but use a light hand other wise you're headed for a right disaster ... although it would be VERY 'Snow White -esque'.

The last thing I got from the collection is the lipglass in 'Strange Potion'

This is a pretty sober coral colour. It is very very pretty. I definitely like it. At first I thought it was a little too bright against my skin tone but it actually works really well, so I'm happy about that hehe.

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Cruella De Ville

First up; Cruella De Ville. Personally, I think she's the meanest villain since she skins puppies for their fur! *shock horror* ... Mean, mean lady. She was of course, made famous by the 1961 animated Disney movie 'One Hundred and One Dalmations' and then obviously later on in '102 Dalmations'.

The first thing I purchased from this part of the collection is the eyeshadow in 'Sweet Joy':

This colour is extremely similar, if not the same, to Ricepaper. So if you have ricepaper than you can skip on this, unless of course you like the packaging. I know the picture of Cruella on the actual eyeshadow plastic packagaing isn't exatlty gasp-worthy but I wanted to get it anyway because I like Cruella (not because she skins puppies but because she is in fact the most evil! If that makes any sense?)

Left to right: Sweet Joy, Ricepaper

Can you see a difference?

Next up is the blush: Darkly My Dear

This is a matte blush and I have to say that I have an undying love for matte blushes, so obviously I love this blush! It's such a great colour. It slightly reminds me of the ELF Blush in Coy but Darkly My Dear has WAY better colour pay off and actually shows up against my skin tone! It's sort of a midtone pink/brown with a very SLIGHT plum brown undertone. So yeah, big thumbs up.

Okay, so the third thing on my list from the Cruella De Ville section is the lipglass in 'Devilishy Stylish' (if I was doing this haul on camera I guarantee you I wouldn't have been able to say that haha):

Described on the website as a 'light nude with pink pearl'. This is great to use alone on your lips for  shimmery, glossy, simply sexy lips. The picture of Cruella on the lip gloss tube is probably the best one out of all of her pictures on any of the products in her part of the collection. Why? Because the puppies are so darn cuuuuute! hehe

Last thing I got is the lipstick in 'Heartless' ... now this lipstick is a red lipstick to DIE for!

Speaks for itself right? This has an amplified finish so yes, the colour is similar to Ruby Woo... but I prefer it because the colour pay off is a lot better and it applies way easier!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Intro

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

I looooooooooooooooooove Disney so obviously I had to invest in this collection. I must admit that I think MAC, along with Disney, could have done a lot better where the products are concerned. But the packaging (and by that I mean the boxing) is amazing! Instead of sticking cartoon versions of the characters on the box packaging they've made each character into art and used the sketches. I love that this collection has the possibility to bring out the kid in all of us. The child in me never has really disappeared, and this collection just brings back all the memories of me sitting in front of the TV thinking "Eurgh... I hate you Cruella De Vil. COME ON DALMATIONS!! RUN RUN RUN!!"

Anyways... let's talk about what I got from the collection. So, this collection is inpspired by four of the villains from the beautiful Disney world: Cruella De Ville, The Evil Queen, Maleficent and Dr. Facilier who is from the more recent Disney film 'The Princess and The Frog'. I didn't purchase anything from his part of the collection because nothing really caught my attention and well, let's face it, the character on the packaging is a big deal in this collection. I know it is for me! Hehe :P

Click the links below to see the seperate blog posts I've posted about what I got from each part of the collection:
